7 Holiday Themed Cocktails

‘Tis the season! The holiday festivities are in full swing. So dash through the snow, deck the halls and get out there and enjoy a holiday themed cocktail to help get you in the spirit.

The Grinch: This sweet melon liqueur is the perfect shade of green for the Grinch martini. In a shaker with ice, combine 1 ½ ounces Midori melon liqueur, 1 ounce vodka, 2 ounces sour mix, and 1 ½ ounces lime juice. Shake then strain into a martini glass rimmed with crushed candy cane. Top it off with either a small candy cane or maraschino cherry.

The Scrooge Driver:

Do you know someone who just can’t get into the Christmas spirit? A slight twist on the classic Screwdriver, this tart version is one that even Ebenezer himself would enjoy. In cocktail shaker, combine 4 ounces orange juice, 2 ounces pink or red grapefruit juice and 3 ounces citrus vodka. Stir gently and pour into highball glasses with ice. Garnish with a slice of sour lemon.

The Rudolph:

This is a great one because you can just use your favorite flavored vodka, pour it into a martini glass and add a dollop of grenadine. (Take your time and pour it into the middle of the glass.) It will settle at the bottom, creating a Rudolph’s signature red nose.

Jack Frost:

Warm up with this beautiful pina colada inspired cocktail. Mix 1 c. pineapple juice with equal parts light rum or vodka, blue curacao and cream of coconut (not coconut milk) in a shaker glass with ice. Strain into martini glass and rim with shredded coconut before serving.

Partridge in a Pear Tree:

This Champagne based cocktail gets flavor from 1½ oz of pear vodka. Add ½ oz lemon juice and ½ oz simple syrup over 2 oz. champagne. Garnish with a cut rosemary sprig cut into 1½ inch.

The Nutcracker:

Finish you meal off with this delicious dessert cocktail. In a shaker with ice, combine 1 oz Frangelico Liqueur, 1 oz cold espresso or coffee, 1 oz. hazelnut coffee Syrup, 4 oz vodka, and 6 oz of prepared eggnog. Stir and strain into a cordial glass. Top with whipped cream and garnish with grated nutmeg. Yummy!

Santa’s Milk and Cookies:

Combine 1 ounce Kahlua with 1 ounce Bailey’s in a shaker with ice. Shake thoroughly, then strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish by rimming the glass with crushed cookies.
