Paver porches: For the forever season

Wiling away the wistful summer evenings on the porch is one of the best relaxation methods around. But that peace and quiet can be disturbed when old wood porches have seen too many seasons.

Instead of replacing worn and warped wood again, think about using pavers. Pavers come in a variety of styles and colors, are low-maintenance, and won’t rot or warp. There will be no painting or staining (or repainting and re-staining!) with pavers. They keep their color for decades. To bring your paver porch surface up to the level of your doorway, use wall blocks and appropriate fill under the pavers. This acts as the support but at the same time is decorative and complementary to your paver flooring. You can also extend the visual line of the home by laying the same pavers on the walkway that leads up to the porch. Walls and pavers come in complementary and contrasting color selections, so a base will blend in with the porch without overwhelming the home’s curb appeal.

If a complementary color isn’t close enough, there’s another option. Did you know that pavers also come in blended colors? The pavers can be matched to the tones and hues of the home’s facade. Any home’s exterior, no matter what hue, can be matched or complemented with EP Henry pavers. Even historic homes can be accommodated. The list of styles is long, and it ranges from the classic look of Brick Stone to the wood-look of Danbury. These wood-look pavers are a great alternative for those who want to keep with the wooden look of a porch. Others with more modern tastes can individualize the look with a distinctive pattern or inlay.

Wood is classic but pavers are timeless. Pavers are easy to care for, come in a very wide range of colors and definitely won’t damage easily.
